RSAC Executive Chairman Hugh Thompson summed it up best: “AI was everywhere.” The conversation has evolved—moving beyond generative AI toward autonomous AI agents. This shift opens new frontiers of opportunity, while also introducing what Cisco’s Jeetu Patel described as “a whole new class of risks.”

The AI regulation debate also loomed. Bruce Schneier urged regulators to ensure AI is "trustworthy and integrous". Yet, some feared regulation could hinder innovation. Jade Leung of the UK AI Security Institute noted, "capabilities are moving much faster than safety and security". RSAC 2025 showed AI is reshaping cybersecurity, demanding collaboration and, as The Last Watchdog highlighted, "human vigilance at every turn".

On the Security Operations front, Simbian drew sustained attention throughout the conference. Our booth remained a hub of activity, with attendees deeply engaged by the power and maturity of our production-grade AI Agents—demonstrating real-world impact across SOC automation, Threat Hunting, and Vulnerability Management.

Managed Security Providers (MSPs) and MSSPs, in particular, resonated strongly with the value proposition, recognizing how Simbian’s agents can transform service delivery at scale.

We also hosted an extremely successful AI SOC Mixer and Japan evening, and want to thank everyone who took the time out of their busy schedule to chat with  us.

Simbian’s industry-first AI SOC Hackathon Championship concluded with powerful takeaways and standout talent.

The event reinforced a core belief: AI thrives as a force multiplier—not a replacement—for human expertise. As participant Nick Phelan (formerly with IBM Security) noted, “The AI traced data patterns I might have missed, but it was my job to interpret what those patterns meant for our defense strategy.”

Below are the winners who will share the $10,000 prize pool:

🎖️ Gold Medal: Team Freddy-Beach
This team earned top honors with a score of 86 out of 100. Their success stemmed from an expert blend of AI-guided workflows and human-driven logic

🥈 Silver Medal: Team NinJa
The runners-up demonstrated exceptional tactical acumen and creative problem-solving.

🥉 Bronze Medal: Ahmad Rifai
Operating solo, Rifai delivered an impressive performance that reflected his years of experience in SOC environments. Rifai called Simbian “the next generation of SOAR,” crediting the platform’s automation and visual interface for helping him focus on high-level reasoning.

We plan to ideate around this event and create more competitions in the near future – stay tuned to this newsletter and Simbian social media channels for more details on upcoming events.

We’re excited to announce our official expansion into Japan—one of the most demanding and forward-thinking cybersecurity markets in the world.

Leading this charge are two of Japan’s most respected security veterans: Kosuke Ito-san and Hiroshi Sugawara-san. Both bring decades of leadership experience from top-tier cybersecurity firms and a proven track record of guiding enterprises through complex digital and cloud transformations.

For our product and engineering teams, working with Japanese customers has been a masterclass in precision and discipline—qualities we deeply value and strive to embody in everything we build.

  • MCP Servers Galore – MCP (Model Context Protocol) is taking the cybersecurity world by storm. Many new MCP servers have been released in April – including Google, Wiz, LimaCharlie, and many, many more. It is becoming more and more simple every day to integrate cybersecurity toolchains with AI systems via MCP.

  • When MCP Bites Back- Continuing on the MCP front, Trail of Bits published blogs describing how MCP servers can attack you before you even use them, and also, how they can steal your conversation history – highlighting how critical it is that you code review these systems and ensure they are trustworthy before deploying them in production.

  • Meta Fires Back with Llama Firewall- Meta has released Llama Firewall, A framework for mitigating prompt injection attacks, AI  misalignment, and insecure coding risks.

  • From Zero to Exploit in Minutes- Matthew Keeley illustrates how quickly you can use AI to generate a POC exploit for a recent vulnerability from scratch, highlighting how easy it is for threat actors to abuse AI to gain a foothold in your environment.
